Stress takes our breath away. When we feel threatened, overwhelmed, overworked or upset, the fight or flight response within us is activated. We stop breathing, our blood pressure goes up and heart beats faster. All of which lead to feelings of anxiety and overwhelm.
Just taking one breath into the belly can calm you and give you the space to find a different response in a difficult moment. Making a practice of intentional breathing has the power over time to help you to find not just temporary relief but long term resolution to anxiety, stress, overwhelm and even illness.
The breath starts as a tool to manage stress and stuck-ness but it ends up creating a whole new way of life.
